It may be awards season in Los Angeles and New York, but, in Indianapolis, IPS has its red carpet ready for the most important winners within the IPS family of staff, volunteers, community partners, schools and alumni.

The people and organizations that strive each and every day to make a measurable difference throughout the district will be recognized and honored during the reimagined IPS Hall of Fame Awards ceremony.

Parents, community members — IPS staff or anyone affected or impacted by the outstanding work being done in IPS schools — can nominate a person or organization for one of these six award categories:

  • Inspiring Alumni.
  • Principal of the Year.
  • Outstanding Staff Member.
  • Engaging School.
  • Excellence in Innovation.
  • Community Partner in Action.

The Teacher of the Year (TOY) award will also be presented during the Hall of Fame ceremony, but because TOY is a state-run program, nominations are not open to the public.

The Hall of Fame Awards is presented by the Indianapolis Public Schools Foundation (IPSF), which partners with the district to help provide opportunities for area businesses to support schools and programs.

The foundation works year-round to ensure all students have the resources and support they need to pursue their dreams with purpose. The Hall of Fame is an extension of that partnership.

“The IPS Foundation is excited about our partnership with the school district to expand the Hall of Fame event to honor those contributing to the success of the district and our community,” said IPSF Chief Executive Officer Stephannie Bailey. “We invite individuals and local businesses to join us in a night of celebration and to lend support through sponsorship opportunities and attendance.”

Nominations are now open through February 7, 2020. The awards program will take place in May. Those interested in Hall of Fame sponsorship opportunities should contact Kelly Karbowicz Riley, IPSF director of development, at
