Join us for a week-long celebration of Indianapolis Public Schools during
IPS Week, October 26-30, 2020

During the last week in October — specifically Oct. 26–30 — Indianapolis Public Schools will host the districtwide IPS Week.

Now in its second year, IPS Week includes fun-filled days celebrating principals, alumni, community partners, and the ways in which we’re Proud to Be Public. But there are also a couple of new experiences during this year’s celebration. To keep students and staff safe, these events will be held virtually.

This, however, isn’t a week just for IPS students and staff to participate in. Our families, alumni and community partners can also join in the fun.

Here’s a rundown for the week:

10.26 Monday: IPS Proud to Be Public Day
Show us why you’re proud to be a part of the IPS family! Wear your school gear and take pictures to share via social media using #IPSWeek and #IPSProudtobePublic. The best picture shared on Monday using these hashtags will win a prize.

10.27 Tuesday: IPS Principal Appreciation Day
IPS principals do a lot for our district and especially our students, and what better day to show your appreciation for all they do than on Principal Appreciation Day. Want to share how you’re showing love to your favorite principal, post a picture on social media using #IPSWeek.

10.28 Wednesday: IPS State of the District
Join IPS Superintendent Aleesia Johnson for a live, virtual telecast of the second annual State of the District, where she’ll share exciting updates and information about what IPS has accomplished and the direction we’re headed. The State of the District, which is being presented in partnership with Circle City Broadcasting, will begin at 6 p.m. and can be viewed at www.myips.org and www.wishtv.com.

10.29 Thursday: IPS Alumni Day
IPS has a long history of proud alumni. On Thursday, we’re asking all IPS alums — from schools past and present — to share their school spirit by showing the reasons why they’re proud of their alma mater. Wear your favorite alumni gear and don’t forget to share via social using #IPSProudAlum and #IPSWeek. We’ll also announce the winner of the IPS Alumni Challenge!

10.30 Friday: IPS Service Day and IPS Hall of Fame
There are two ways to celebrate IPS Week on Friday:

IPS Service Day: Celebrate the many community partners who have given back to IPS staff, students and families. From playgrounds to books, to murals, food, tutoring and more, our long list of dedicated community partners are invaluable to the district. Share the amazing ways our partners have helped IPS. On social, make sure to use #IPSServiceDay and #IPSWeek.

IPS Hall of Fame: The reimagined IPS Hall of Fame Awards will honor our teacher, principal and staff member of the year, along with outstanding schools, community partners and inspiring alumni. Special guest presenters include Congressman Andre Carson, Mayor Joe Hogsett, and Rick Fuson, Pacers Sports & Entertainment President and Chief Operating Officer. This exciting virtual event will air at 7 p.m., and is made possible by title sponsor Faegre Drinker, the IPS Foundation and many other local companies.
