After besting their respective school spelling bees, 37 IPS students participated in the 2020 Marion County IPS District Spelling Bee. The competition was hosted Friday, Jan. 24, inside Anderson Auditorium at Arsenal Technical High School.

Owen Norwalk walked away with the first-place win. Elliott Hunt received second place, and Cole Weidenbach received the third-place trophy.

They, along with 12 other IPS students, will move onto the next round of competition: The Marion County Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 14, at IUPUI.

In addition to his trophy, Norwalk (who advanced last year to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.) also received a Microsoft Surface tablet, donated by the IPS Foundation.
